Booker T Makes Surprising Claim About In-Ring Career

Booker T

Booker T didn’t get involved in creative.

The idea of creative control has taken on a life of its own in recent years, with Mercedes Mone and Tony Khan repeatedly denying that the star is booking her own storylines. However, it isn’t uncommon for wrestlers across all companies to make suggestions about their character.

But that doesn’t mean that everyone does.

During a new interview with Esports Insider, WWE Hall of Famer Booker T revealed that he never made a pitch for his character.

“You know, I feel like a lot of guys these days do that. I never pitched an idea throughout my whole career.

Literally from the beginning to the end. I’ve never once pitched an idea. Just because I didn’t wanna know what I was gonna do. I just wanted to be able to get the script, look at it, and see exactly what I could make it, no matter how small or how big. That’s just more work! That’s the writer’s job to come up with that kind of stuff.

When you’re a talent, you don’t have to think or worry about them writing something for you and writing really good stuff, which they had. So for me, I was always ‘talent’. They always wrote good stuff for me.”

Booker T Throws Support Behind Trick Williams

On a recent episode of his podcast, Booker T reiterated his belief that Trick Williams can go to the very top of WWE — even if he “isn’t the greatest wrestler in the world.” The veteran said that he sees a lot of himself in Williams, and that his skills as a performer outweigh his in-ring shortcomings.

Trick Williams is the current TNA World Champion, but he’s also got his eyes on another prize. On the September 23 edition of NXT, the star will challenge Oba Femi for the NXT Championship, while his TNA Championship will also be up for grabs.

The winner of that match will then defend both titles against Ricky Saints at No Mercy on September 27.
