Booker T Responds To “Jobbed Out” Suggestions At WWE Royal Rumble

Booker T

Booker T isn’t having it when it comes to some “stupid” comments he’s reading.

Booker was a surprise entrant in the 2023 Royal Rumble match. He entered at #21 but only lasted 42 seconds before being eliminated by GUNTHER. Because of this quick appearance, some wrestling fans have argued that Booker T was “jobbed out” in the Rumble match.

For anyone unaware, “jobbing” or “doing a/the job” is wrestling speak for losing a match. It doesn’t always necessarily carry a negative connotation, as a wrestler who is booked/scheduled to lose to someone else to make that other wrestler look good has, if the intended reaction is achieved, “done their job.”

It is with this in mind that Booker T addressed some fan comments criticizing WWE for allegedly booking Booker so poorly. Speaking on his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker explained that WWE did the right thing with his interaction with GUNTHER, even if it cut his feel-good moment short.

“GUNTHER did an awesome job making history. That guy’s going to be a major, major player here for WWE for a long time. It was my honor to do the favor for him.

I see stupid people saying, ‘Booker got jobbed out.’ I want to say this publicly so everyone can hear. I’d rather be jobbed out by GUNTHER than GUNTHER be jobbed out by me any day of the week.”

GUNTHER set a new Royal Rumble record in the match by lasting a total of 1:11:40. Aside from Booker T, he also eliminated Sheamus, Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods, and Drew McIntyre.
