Booker T is a big fan of one rising NXT star.

At New Year’s Evil, Roxanne Perez lost the NXT Women’s Title to Giulia bringing her second run with the gold to an end.

Many fans have suggested this could mark the beginning of the end for Perez’s time in NXT before she moves to the main roster, potentially at the Royal Rumble. Perez is one of the most highly-rated female stars in WWE having notched up an impressive list of accolades despite still being in her early 20s.

Speaking on his Hall of Fame podcast, NXT announcer and former trainer of Perez, Booker T said the star is ready for the main roster. However, he’s wary of placing too much pressure on her young shoulders.

“I’m not gonna say it’s time for the main roster. I’m not gonna say it’s not time. The time is gonna be when she goes there. That’s the way I look at it, just because I don’t want to put any pressure on Roxanne Perez.

I tell all of them, when they go from NXT to the main roster, it’s a difference. You’re gonna be working. It’s a total difference in what you did on NXT and and then doing it on the main roster, from going around the world on a regular basis, you gotta be ready for that.

So for Roxanne, I just want her to be ready for it. Do I think she’s ready for it right now? Yeah, I think she’s ready for it. But I wouldn’t necessarily say, ‘Man, let’s pull the trigger on it right now. But there again, I would not not do it if I got something for it.

I think when she does get to the main roster, she’s gonna shock and amaze. She’s gonna shock and amaze because she works so much bigger than she actually is. She works up to the level to the opponent that she’s working. I just can’t wait to actually see it when it actually happens.”

Meanwhile, new NXT Women’s Champion Giulia has admitted she wants to move to the main roster as soon as possible. During the same interview, the star reflected on having to tweak her in-ring style between leaving Japan and signing with WWE.

Booker T Wants To Wrestle NXT Star

After making his return to the ring at the age of 59, Booker T said he hopes to work with Tick Williams in 2025. The veteran revealed that Williams texts him regularly trying to get him to agree to a match but a knee problem has prevented him from taking up the offer.

Booker got back in the ring for the first time in two years on January 11th when he defeated Zilla Fatu at a Reality of Wrestling event. The bout was his first singles match in six years.
