Booker T “Glad Brock Lesnar Got Past This Drama” To Make WWE Return

Brock Lesnar

Booker T has come out in support of Brock Lesnar.

At SummerSlam, Brock Lesnar made a stunning return to WWE, attacking John Cena as the show went off the air. In the main event, Cena had just lost the Undisputed WWE Championship to Cody Rhodes.

However, his comeback came with a huge amount of controversy.

Back in January 2024, Lesnar was implicated in Janel Grant’s sex trafficking lawsuit against WWE, Vince McMahon, and John Laurinaitis. According to the suit, McMahon offered Lesnar sexual encounters with Grant in an effort to get him to sign a new contract.

While Lesnar’s comeback has split fans online, Booker T said he’s glad to see Lesnar back in action. Speaking on his Hall of Fame podcast, the veteran suggested that Lenar had now got past the drama around him.

“I’m glad he’s got past this drama, you know what I mean? The hardest thing when you’re going through drama is just having to sit back and not being able to say anything. I’m glad he’s got his name cleared and now he’s able to get back in the ring and do what he does best.

Brock Lesnar has had a hell of a Hall of Fame career, he’s definitely been one of the best that this business has ever seen. The thing is, he didn’t do it the traditional route like most wrestlers as far as going out there and having so-called five star matches. He just went out there and beat the hell out of guys where you say, ‘Man, that was five stars.’ [laughs]

Brock coming back, having his name cleared, that’s huge. This world that we live in today, all it takes, boom. It’s one allegation or one accusation and your life can be uprooted totally. I’m just glad to see him back in the ring doing what he does best.”

Following SummerSlam, it was reported that Brock Lesnar had been “cleared by WWE legal” for several weeks. However, there has been no wider legal exoneration.

Elsewhere, a representative for Janel Grant said that Lesnar’s comeback was just another attempt by WWE to “sweep misconduct under the rug.” The statement added that Grant and her team look forward to “the full set of facts, including those about Mr. Lesnar, coming out in a court of law.”

John Cena Didn’t Ask For Brock Lesnar

In the hours after SummerSlam, Triple H suggested that John Cena had been the man behind Lesnar’s return. The Game claimed that Lesnar was on Cena’s “wish list” for his retirement run, and as such, he’d simply done what was asked of him.

However, John Cena has distanced himself from that suggestion, reiterating that he only works with whoever WWE puts in front of him.

Cena is set to address the chaos at SummerSlam on the August 8 edition of SummerSlam.
