Booker T Doesn’t Want To See WWE Hall Of Famer Back In Action
Booker T has told a WWE Hall of Famer to stay retired.
At Slammiversary, Matt and Jeff Hardy regained the TNA Tag Team Championship after a wild Ladder Match. But incredibly, there was an even bigger story to come.
In the minutes after the match, Bully Ray (Bubba Ray Dudley) came to the ring to congratulate the new champions, then shockingly pitched one more match between the two famous teams. He hinted that the match between the long-time rivals could take place at Bound For Glory.
The announcement was especially surprising as, in recent years, D-Von has suffered a stroke and undergone major spinal surgery, after which he was told he’d never wrestle again.
Booker T Wants D-Von Dudley To Forget Wrestling Again
On the latest episode of his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T looked back at Slammiversary while giving his thoughts on the surprise Dudley Boyz comeback. In a typically blunt fashion, he said that due to D-Von’s health, a match isn’t possible, commenting, “he’s finished.”
“Let me tell you something, it’s not possible. D-Von, damn it, he just had a heart attack or a stroke not too long ago. He can’t work anymore. He’s done. He’s finished.”
Booker said that some of his fellow veterans are simply unable to “let it go.”
“Bubba Ray, look, man, these guys just don’t know when to let it go. That’s my thing. They just don’t know when to put it down. It’s over. Okay?… All that other stuff you were talking about, Jacy Jayne and Trick Williams, AJ Styles, all that stuff, that’s cool. But let’s forget about The Dudleys vs. The Hardys. Let’s just forget about it.”
During the same episode, Booker T confirmed that he’s now retired and has no desire to get back in the ring. He explained that at 60 years of age, he’s well aware that he can’t physically do what he did even into his 40s.
The WWE Hall of Famer added that he’s got “no itch to scratch,” and wants fans to remember him for what he achieved in his prime.
