Booker T Doesn’t Want WWE Legends Replacing CM Punk

CM Punk

Booker T has given his opinion on what WWE should do now that CM Punk is ruled out of WrestleMania 40.

CM Punk is out of WrestleMania after suffering a serious injury in the men’s Royal Rumble match. Punk is believed to have torn his triceps when he took a Future Shock DDT from Drew McIntyre but continued the match, finishing as runner-up to Cody Rhodes.

Punk was believed to be in line to face Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 40 but his absence could now signal an opportunity for someone else to take that spot.

Booker T Wants A New Star In CM Punk WrestleMania Spot

Speaking on his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T noted that he wasn’t looking at any of WWE’s legends to come and fill in for Punk but rather he hopes the company takes the opportunity to make a new star:

I’m not looking for anything like that myself. Right now, just coming off the Rumble, you look at the talent pool, you got a plethora of talent right now. There’s so many guys on the roster that can step into that spot and become something and make themselves. To be able to make stars, you gotta put them in a position to become stars.

I just think we got an opportunity here, we got a huge opportunity, especially with Punk going down, even though Punk, that’s a great match. Either one of those guys, if Seth wins, it’s great. If Punk wins, it’s great. But Punk is already a made man, and Seth is already a made man. I’m looking to make somebody.

Seth Rollins made his case to Cody Rhodes for Rhodes to use his Royal Rumble win to face him at WrestleMania for the World Heavyweight Championship instead of challenging Roman Reigns for the second year in a row. Should WWE pivot to Rhodes vs. Rollins, it could leave the door open for the highly anticipated match between Roman Reigns and The Rock.
