Booker T Against Popular WWE Change

Booker T

Booker T has explained why he is “all in” on an aspect of WWE that the company already plans to change.

As well as Raw making its highly-anticipated Netflix debut, January saw SmackDown moving to three hours for the first time in its 25-year history. Fans were divided on the move, with many thinking that WWE already puts out too much content to follow each week.

Those fans were relieved when Triple H announced that SmackDown’s change to three hours was only temporary. It has since been reported that the blue brand will move back to two hours within a matter of months.

One man who would prefer the show to stay longer is NXT commentator Booker T. On his Hall of Fame podcast, the six-time World Champion explained that the longer runtime gives more opportunities for wrestlers to get on the show. He also believes that fans would continue to tune in as they have “got used” to three-hour events with Raw.

“I think the three hour show works from a talent perspective because we as the boys, we want to get on the show. So, that extra hour, I mean if you guys don’t like it, that’s one thing but for me, I’m thinking about the check [laughs]. I’m thinking about getting paid, I’m thinking about air time is worth it, way to go.

“From the boy’s perspective, I totally see it. If it could be written out properly, I don’t see a problem with having a three hour show. I think the fans will tune in, they’ve been doing it for quite some time, I think fans finally got used to the three hour show. So yeah, I’m all in, I like it.”

Booker T Returning To The Ring

On January 11th, Booker T will compete for the first time since the 2023 Royal Rumble. The star has accepted a challenge from Zilla Fatu – the son of late WWE star Umaga – and will face him in the ring on Reality of Wrestling’s Battle to the Bell event.
