Booker T Says Popular AEW Gimmick Is On The Stupid Side Of Wrestling
WWE Hall of Famer Booker T might not always have good things to say about AEW but as far as ‘Timeless’ Toni Storm is concerned, he’s a fan.
Toni Storm unravelled after she lost the AEW Women’s Championship to Hikaru Shida in August 2023 which prevented her from defending the gold in Wembley Stadium at All In. Leaning into her issues, Storm developed her ‘Timeless’ character who seems to think she’s a movie star of the golden age.
The character has caught fire and is one of the most popular in AEW, so much so, that Storm worked her way back to reclaiming the AEW Women’s Championship at Full Gear in November 2023.
Booker T A Big Fan Of Toni Storm
Speaking on his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T discussed Toni Storm’s current character in AEW and said he’s a fan of it:
I like it. It’s different. It seems like it’s something that came out of her head. It seems like it’s something that she had been thinking about for quite some time and wanted to pull something out that was totally different — which for me, is wrestling.
It’s that stupid side of wrestling to be embellished, to be whatever you want it to be, but it still has a context to where you look at it towards not being hokey or anything like that. It’s pretty cool.
Booker T is no stranger to an off-the-wall wrestling gimmick either as he affected an English accent and a regal sense of entitlement when he won the King of the Ring in 2006. The star found success with that character as well as he captured the World Heavyweight Championship as King Booker.
Toni Storm seemed to be on wrestling fan’s minds when a former WWE star made their debut for TNA recently. Dana Brooke debuted for her new company as Ash By Elegance with her appearance and character drawing many comparisons with Storm. However, the ex-WWE star hit back with the former Dana Brooke claiming Toni Storm will never be her.
