Booker T Claims 22 Year-Old-WWE Star Already Belongs In Hall Of Fame
Booker T thinks one NXT star is already one of the greats.
In the eyes of many observers, Roxanne Perez is heading to the top of the wrestling industry. The star began training when she was 16 under the tutelage of Booker T before becoming Ring of Honor Women’s Champion.
Despite being just 22 years of age, Perez is considered one of the most promising female stars in WWE, while enjoying her second run with the NXT Women’s Title.
However, Perez’s title reign is under serious threat as it’s been announced she’ll defend the gold against Giulia on October 1st.
Looking ahead to the match on his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T said it’s a chance to see how good Giulia really is while praising his former trainee.
“It’s all about being tested. We’re gonna see exactly how good Giulia really is on the 1st. We know how good Roxanne Perez is, her confidence right now is through the roof. She’s as good as I’ve ever seen her perform right now and that’s what’s scary. That’s scary because I know she’s got so much more learning to do.
I know her in-ring IQ is only gonna go up from her, her in-ring [ability] is only just gonna get better from this perspective. She works inside those parameters to where she’s one step ahead all the time. I don’t know a whole a lot about Giulia. We’re gonna find out a whole a lot about Giulia, if she can really go and really hang with The Prodigy.”
Booker went on to say he never doubted that Perez would go on to become a star before claiming she’s already a Hall of Fame-worthy career.
“We know about Roxanne Perez. No one expected Roxanne Perez through the ashes and be the one. No one saw that rose rising up through the concrete and blossoming right there in the middle of I-45. That’s Roxanne Perez, no one saw that coming.
Did I see that coming? I did. From day one, Roxanne Perez at fantasy camp showed me how bad she wanted it. When she became a part of Reality Of Wrestling, I was in awe of her talent and her work ethic.
Then for her to make it to the next level so quick and become ROH’s first women’s champion, that right there is a statement in itself. Breakout tournament winner, Iron Survivor, two time NXT Women’s Champion.
She’s got a hall of fame career already. If she retired today, she’d be going into the Hall Of Fame.”
Booker T Compares NXT Star To Goldberg
Meanwhile, Booker T also had glowing praise for Oba Femi comparing him to Hall of Famer and former World Champion Goldberg. The NXT announcer talked up the rising star’s freakish athleticism and look, explaining that although he’s on a similar trajectory to Goldberg, he’s getting more in-ring experience.
Oba Femi is the current NXT North American Champion after signing with WWE in late 2021.
Booker also discussed his long-standing friendship with Goldberg, explaining why he always enjoyed working with him.
