Bobby Lashley Has Surprising Opponent After WWE Exit
Bobby Lashley is reportedly moving on from his WWE career and is set to compete against an opponent that would be a surprise to wrestling fans.
For the past several months, Bobby Lashley has been absent from WWE television without much of an explanation. Over the last year, Lashley has been in a stable with The Street Profits (Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins) and B-Fab.
In a recent interview, Bobby Lashley revealed that he underwent surgery following his last WWE match in France this past May.
As for what’s next, it has been reported that Lashley’s WWE deal is close to expiring or is set to expire soon. As for what’s next, Lashley and his good friend MVP, who is also free from his WWE deal, have already been linked to possibly signing with AEW soon although there’s nothing official yet.
During an episode of The Laboratory with Plaz podcast, Lashley claimed that he has a deal in place to have a boxing match.
“I love to be able to push myself to do things that are ridiculous. I set goals for myself every day. What can I do? How far can I push myself? How much can I do? I want to run a marathon. I’m going to try to do that pretty soon.”
“I’ll do jiu-jitsu, I’m going to try and win a world championship in jiu-jitsu. I’m going to do a boxing match. We’ve already talked about this boxing match. I might have an opportunity to do it. I’m boxing somebody in Vegas. There is an opponent.”
Bobby Lashley Says Vince McMahon Understood Him
In that same interview, Bobby Lashley praised former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon as somebody who understood him. While Vince was booking WWE, Lashley was a two-time WWE Champion. Over the last two years with Triple H booking WWE, Lashley was used sparingly. Lashley spoke about the differences.
“If I say the wrong thing right now….I had a connection with Vince. Vince understood me. Vince was big on the show. He looked at people that were stars. He saw that in me. There were a lot of little nuggets that Vince would give me throughout my career and tell me different things.”
“Vince looked at me like, ‘I can tell Bobby works his ass off. I can send him anywhere around the country to represent the brand.’ He looked at me like a star. I like Vince. I haven’t really had too much of a connection with Hunter. Hunter has his guys. I’ve tried to, but we haven’t really worked enough together to get to know each other.”
At the age of 48, it appears as though Bobby Lashley is going to have fun exploring his options now that he’s free from his WWE obligations.
