Bobby Lashley Learned Important Lesson From The Undertaker
Bobby Lashley has opened up about key lessons learned from The Undertaker.
After spending three years in the United States Army, Lashley joined WWE in January 2005 and spent just a handful of months in developmental territory Ohio Valley Wrestling before earning a main roster call-up.
The Kansas-born star was soon embroiled in feuds with the likes of JBL, Finlay and Booker T which offered him a unique opportunity to learn from experienced Superstars. Whilst he was learning from those talented veterans in the ring, Lashley was also picking up tips backstage from the likes of The Undertaker.
Speaking during a recent appearance on ‘INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet‘, the 48 year-old shared an important piece of advice handed to him by ‘The Deadman’ during the early stages of his career. The former WWE Champion recommended that the imposing youngster make the most of his large frame:
“When ‘Taker came in, ‘Taker was watching me when I was first starting out as this big kid with a lot of energy, the crowd was behind me. And ‘Taker was like, ‘You keep going down to this wrestling stance’ — ’cause I kept going into [amateur] wrestling mode.”
Lashley would go on the explain that he received further advice from industry veterans Bob Holly, Big Show, John Cena and Edge and shared his belief that time in the locker room with such seasoned campaigners offered a better learning opportunity than spending time in developmental:
“You didn’t even need to go to OVW, you could just go and get put in that group and you could get better. You just had to stand there.”
