There is unfortunate injury news regarding a rising WWE star.

A new feud recently started on the WWE SmackDown brand, involving former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre and former US Champion Jacob Fatu. It’s a rivalry that many fans were excited about, but now it won’t move forward.

It has been reported by Bodyslam’s Patreon page that Jacob Fatu is dealing with a “non-wrestling related injury” that may keep him out of the ring “well into 2026.” There were no specifics regarding the nature of the injury that has sidelined Fatu.

When Fatu joined WWE in the spring of 2024, he was part of Solo Sikoa’s heel version of The Bloodline on SmackDown. He even main evented multiple PLEs in his “rookie” year as a WWE superstar, which is very impressive.

Since the company knew Fatu could be a huge star, he was often protected booking-wise and eventually became a babyface whom the fans loved. At WrestleMania 41, Fatu’s rise saw him win the US Title from LA Knight.

Jacob Fatu Is A Huge Fan Of His Family In WWE

As a cousin of Roman Reigns and The Usos, Jacob Fatu has a lot of support in WWE. While he has fought against most of them, he has also fought with Jimmy Uso many times.

Earlier this year, Jacob Fatu made it clear that he was a fan of the wrestlers in his family.

I’m my family’s biggest fan. I mean, I love my family so much. We’re talking about [the] Headshrinkers, Wild Samoans, Islanders. To grow up with them, and you know, man, it’s just, it’s mind-blowing. And if you wanna ask me, and you know, they probably don’t like when I say this, but I’m a huge fan of Roman. I’m a huge fan of Jimmy and Jey. I mean, if anything, I’ve seen these guys, you know. And not only that, I know how they are. I am very grateful to be a part of this.

The McIntyre-Fatu rivalry was supposed to lead to a match on this Friday’s October 17th edition of WWE SmackDown, but now that match is unlikely to happen due to Fatu’s injury issue. The company has yet to address it.
