With shouts of ‘Oh, scissor me Daddy’ coming from the crowd, Billy Gunn has admitted he’s surprised at his popularity at this stage of his career.
With a career now spanning over three decades, Billy Gunn is no stranger to being part of something in wrestling which takes on a life of its own. His time as a member of D-Generation X will have quickly prepared him for having a cult crowd following, however even he didn’t expect it to transfer over to his time in AEW.
In a discussion on Captain’s Corner, Billy Gunn commented on how he should be playing golf somewhere rather than being one of the main attractions on the show. He also noted that he’s put in the years of hard work, and now is the stage in his career he needs to make sure he’s having fun.
I have no earthly idea why I’m still a hot commodity.I should be playing golf somewhere and retired.
If there’s one thing that’s constant it’s the fans. Whether you like me or don’t like me, they’ve always been there. My rollercoaster of life has peaked out, I’m having a blast. I’m having a lot of fun with Max and Anthony; they’re good kids. My career doesn’t get better, it can end today and I’ll be fine. At this stage of my life I’m just having fun, and that’s what I need to do. I’ve done the hard part.
Billy Gunn has been aligned with The Acclaimed, Max Caster and Anthony Bowens, who rap their way to the ring and have presented events such as National Scissoring Day. Recently at Grand Slam, The Acclaimed became AEW World Tag Team Champions.
