Big Name Attending IMPACT Wrestling Tapings In Chicago
There’s a big name in pro wrestling that is attending this weekend’s IMPACT Wrestling tapings in Chicago.
It was reported earlier this week that former WWE Women’s Champion Naomi, whose real name is Trinity Fatu, is set to debut for IMPACT Wrestling during their TV tapings in Chicago tonight (August 28th) and tomorrow.
Trinity will be joined by one of her best friends because PWInsider Elite reports that former IWGP Women’s Champion Mercedes Mone is in Chicago and will be at tonight’s Impact Wrestling tapings at Cicero Stadium. Mercedes was in Japan over the last week following her most recent match and was joined in Japan by former WWE superstar Mojo Rawley along with his wife. They posted a lot of their fun experiences on Instagram over the last week.
The report from PWInsider notes that Mercedes is there to support her friend Trinity. They added that “Impact sources earlier this week denied Mone was appearing on their tapings this week when asked.”
As a lot of fans know, Trinity and Mercedes are very close friends after spending the last decade in WWE together. Trinity was in Japan during some of Mercedes’ moments working in NJPW, so it sounds like Mercedes is returning the favor.
It was nearly one year ago in May 2022 when Trinity and Mercedes left WWE together as the Women’s Tag Team Champions due to being frustrated with the creative direction. While both women were rumored to go back to WWE at various times over the last year, it hasn’t happened yet.
The content that IMPACT Wrestling tapes tonight in Chicago will air next week during the IMPACT Wrestling TV show that airs on Thursdays on AXS TV in the US.
While Trinity is at Impact tonight, her husband Jimmy Uso will team up with brother Jey Uso against Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn on Smackdown to try to regain the WWE Tag Team Titles.
