Big E Wins WWE Championship On RAW
Big E has defeated Bobby Lashley to claim his first ever World Championship.
Mr. Money In The Bank had promised to cash in his contract and win RAW’s top title and he did just that to a thunderous ovation from the Boston crowd.
The former Intercontinental Champion has announced earlier in the day that he was going to be at the show, and he hit the ring to open the episode. During the segment with Lashley and Randy Orton, he promised to end the show with the WWE Championship.
Fast forward to the main event, and Lashley retained his WWE Championship against Randy Orton, but it was far from plain sailing.
Orton came out of the gate quickly but appeared to tweak his ankle falling to the outside of the ring. Lashley took advantage of the issue, to take control but Orton was never truly out of contention. The champion countered an RKO into a huge Spear but somehow Orton kicked out.
The Viper did finally hit an RKO, but MVP pulled Lashley to the ropes to avoid the pin. Orton dashed to the outside to flatten MVP with an RKO but as he got back in the ring he was levelled with another Spear, and this time couldn’t kick out.
However, the drama was just beginning. Lashley attacked Riddle and put Orton through the announce table, but injured his own knee in the process. As he climbed back into the ring Big E’s music hit and he declared that he was cashing in his Money In The Bank contract. Lashley tried to get out of the match, but a huge slap from the challenger provoked him into starting the bout.
Big E went for a Big Ending early but was countered into a Spear. While the move worked on Orton minutes earlier, Big E was a different proposition. He kicked out at two and fought back to hit the Big Ending and claim his first World Championship much to the delight of those in attendance.
