Big E Snubbed Despite Being Backstage At NXT Homecoming

NXT Homecoming featured a night of celebration and surprises, but many fans have been left wondering why Big E was left out.

NXT Homecoming celebrated the brand’s roots with Triple H, Shawn Michaels, William Regal, Sami Zayn, Finn Balor, Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss, Grayson Waller, and Bobby Roode all appearing on the show.

Flair and Bliss were in action as they successfully defended their WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship against Tatum Paxley and Izzi Dame. Former NXT Women’s Champions Rhea Ripley, Stephanie Vaquer, and Lyra Valkyria combined forces to defeat Fatal Influence. WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton was pulled from that match due to injury issues.

Carmelo Hayes returned to NXT to revive his team with Trick Williams for one night only as they defeated DIY with a little help from Hayes’ current partner, The Miz.

Big E Fails To Appear On NXT Homecoming

Prior to the show, Cory Hays of BodySlam.net teased that Big E could be making an appearance on the show, but that never ended up happening. Hays noted simply that he “Didn’t get used” after the former WWE Champion did not appear on the show, but confirmed he was backstage at Full Sail University throughout the broadcast.

Prior to joining the main roster in WWE, Big E became the second-ever NXT Champion when he defeated Seth Rollins for the gold in December 2012. By that time, Rollins had already debuted on the WWE main roster as part of The Shield.

This continues to mean that the last time fans have seen Big E on any of WWE’s in-ring shows came when he was heartbreakingly kicked out of The New Day by the ruthless Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods.
