Big E Says He Feels 100%, No Timetable On WWE Return
Big E has given a very positive update on his health although he doesn’t know when he might return to the WWE ring.
The March 11th, 2022 edition of WWE Smackdown saw former WWE Champion Big E and his New Day tag team partner Kofi Kingston face off against Sheamus and Ridge Holland in tag team action.
There was a spot in the match where Holland gave Big E an overhead belly-to-belly suplex on the floor. As most WWE fans know by now, Big E landed on the top of his head and suffered a broken neck. The WWE Medical team and EMTs were there quickly to check on him.
Due to the serious neck injury he suffered, Big E was carted out of the building on a stretcher. Big E hasn’t been cleared to wrestle since that moment took place nearly 16 months ago.
As for the damage suffered to his neck, Big E fractured his C1 vertebrae and C6 vertebrae, but thankfully he didn’t suffer any ligament or spinal cord damage.
During an appearance on WWE’s After The Bell podcast with Corey Graves & Kevin Patrick, Big E shared an update on his health. As usual, Big E had a positive attitude about how he is doing.
“I feel great. Unfortunately, I don’t have a timetable. The great thing is, I feel 100%, I don’t even feel like someone who broke their neck. My mobility is incredible and great. My strength is great, I have no issues whatsoever. I wish I had some answers on returning to the ring. I have nothing, unfortunately, but the beautiful thing is I feel great, my body feels great, I’m really thankful for that. Life is good. I’m blessed. I can walk around and touch my toes, go to the gym, all those things. Really grateful.”
Big E continued to thank the people that helped him when he was injured and all the support he received.
“I want to say thank you to the EMTs who were there, very timely. I thought it was a contusion, I didn’t think my neck was broken at all. Thankfully, people got to me before I could do that. So thankful for the people in Birmingham, Dr. (Jeffrey) Dugas, who took great care of me. Everyone who was just there for me. People texting me, emailed me, all the people who checked in. Fans, peers, family, loved ones.”
“Oftentimes, we look at the internet and Twitter, we think of wrestling Twitter, the community, sometimes it can be a dark place and be less than ideal. For me, I just saw a very beautiful community that reached out, wanted to support me, that was there for me, not just the day of or the day after, but weeks and months after.”
“I am so proud to be part of this community and part of this industry because of that. I’m really grateful for all those things. Thank to everyone, I love you guys. I appreciate the love and support. I am doing beautifully. Mind, body, soul, all those things are incredible. Fortunate and blessed to be alive. Tip your waiters. Pay your taxes.”
There were rumors during the WWE Draft two months ago that Big E might be brought back to the company at that point, but it didn’t happen.
It’s always good to hear that Big E is doing well and we are sure the WWE Universe would love to see him back in the ring again some day.
