Big E Confronts New Day Turmoil In WWE
Big E is trying to stay out of the chaos.
The careers of Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods, and Big E have been heavily intertwined since mid-2014. After joining forces the trio have worked to become one of the most successful tag teams of all time (in various guises) while Kingston and E won World Championship gold.
However, with Big E still out of action with a broken neck, there’s been growing tension between Woods and Kingston in recent weeks. This has seen the pair arguing backstage and failing to get on the same page during matches.
During a new interview with Kyle Odegard of Sports Talk Philly, Big E was asked for his thoughts on the situation but revealed he’s tried not to get involved.
“We’ve had a long run. Ten years is a very long time. We’ve been guys where you’ve never really seen any tension from us, but Kofi and Woods right now are going through a bit of turmoil.
I think that happens in any marriage, whether it’s a long-lasting one or not. But that’s how people approach being a team together: it feels very much like a marriage in the way you communicate, and sometimes you’re not always on the same page.”
I don’t know exactly what he’s alluding to. I’ve for the most part been hands-off with what those guys are going through right now.”
I’m still very connected, but it’s one of those things where I don’t want to meddle or be involved if I’m not asked to be involved. I’m hopeful that whatever they are going through they will figure out.”
Big E went on to add that the only reason the trio survived in 2014 and 2015 was because they stuck together, reiterating that their bond will long outlast their in-ring careers.
Big E Comments On Potential In-Ring Return
During the same interview, Big E revealed he’s set for more scans on his neck in three to six months, and if the results are positive he’s open to getting back in the ring.
The former World Champion hasn’t wrestled since teaming with Kofi Kingston on the March 11th, 2022, episode of SmackDown. During a tag team match against the Brawling Brutes, he didn’t fully rotate while taking an overhead Belly-to-Belly Suplex from Ridge Holland. This meant that the New Day star landed high up on his neck.
