Big AEW Entrance For Mercedes Mone Scrapped

Mercedes Mone was hit by late changes at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door.

AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2024 was a huge night for Mercedes Mone as she defeated Stephanie Vaquer in a huge ‘Winner Takes All’ match-up.

With the victory, Mone not only kept hold of her TBS Championship, but she added Vaquer’s NJPW Strong Women’s Title. A championship that was actually created for Mone back in 2023.

However, it seems the AEW star’s night could have been even bigger.

During an appearance on Heal Squad, Mone’s advocate Keven Undergaro, there were plans for a special entrance that were dropped. Undergaro produced the star’s AEW theme song.

“We were supposed to have a big entrance. I didn’t manage it, so it didn’t happen,”

Mercedes Mone’s Rival Signs With WWE

Meanwhile, it’s been announced by Shawn Michaels that Mone’s opponent at Forbidden Door has signed with WWE.

The move comes after a week of wild speculation which included Stephanie Vaquer announcing her departure from CMLL and NJPW with immediate effect. WWE reportedly took an interest in Vaquer following her match at Forbidden Door and moved quickly to secure her signature.

It had previously been reported the star was in attendance at NXT Heatwave.
