Bianca Belair Explains Why It Would Be Difficult To Be A Heel
Bianca Belair hears people suggesting that she become a heel in WWE, but she’s not so sure she wants to be in that role at this point in her career.
For over three years now, Bianca Belair has been one of the most popular wrestlers in all of WWE. It’s not just a man or woman thing. It’s the entire roster. Belair is as popular as anybody in the company and it’s been that way since she was called up from NXT to join the main roster during the pandemic era of WWE. In her NXT days, she was a bit of a heel character, but she has been a babyface on the main roster.
When Bianca Belair won the 2021 Royal Rumble, it was in the Thunderdome. Thankfully a few months later at WrestleMania 37, Belair headlined the WrestleMania Saturday show with Sasha Banks and it was the night when Belair won the Smackdown Women’s Title to become a champion for the first time.
Over the past two years, Belair has held the Smackdown and Raw Women’s Titles. Her Raw Women’s Title reign lasted for 419 days. It ended at Night of Champions back in May when Asuka used some underhanded tactics to become the new champion.
Since losing her championship, Bianca Belair has shown some heel mannerisms. She recently ruined an Asuka-Charlotte Flair Women’s Title match, but it was also because Asuka moved Belair in front of her, which led to Flair accidentally kicking Belair.
While speaking to Alex McCarthy of Daily Mail, it was mentioned that a reason John Cena didn’t want to turn heel during his WWE prime is because of the influence he had on children. Bianca Belair was asked if she sees things in a similar way.
“Very similar feelings. It’s a feeling that sticks with you outside the ring. We can’t be inside the ring every hour of the day. Those are the things that mean the most to me, the impact I have outside.”
“I have the same feeling that he (Cena) felt. I hear everybody like turn heel and I’m like, hmmm.”
During her entrance at WrestleMania 39, Bianca Belair was joined by a dance troupe called The Divas of Compton, who were dancing on the stage while Belair’s song played. One of the girls was on the stage with Belair even though the girl’s mother died on the same day as WrestleMania. Bianca spoke about how much moments like that mean to her.
“That’s what it’s all about and why I love my position in WWE and what I can do. It’s not just about me, I want to use my platform to inspire and uplift others and give them that representation and I was able to do that at WrestleMania.”
“My favourite thing is to see the mini ESTs. I was at a meet and greet one day and there were so many, and it was like, they’re a part of this, I need to figure out a way to make them part of WrestleMania, so I found the dance group in California and I had a lot of help. Everyone hearing about her story, giving her that special day, it was just special and everyone felt it and I want to do things that make people feel.”
Bianca Belair has been pining for a rematch against Asuka to try to regain the WWE Women’s Title. Belair will finally get her shot at WWE Women’s Title with Belair set to face Asuka next week on Smackdown. Since the plan seems to be an Asuka-Belair-Flair triple threat match at SummerSlam, the Asuka-Belair match could be in for a controversial ending.
