Beth Phoenix has opened up about how she got some great advice from FTR while speaking about her big match at Elimination Chamber.

The WWE Hall of Fame couple Edge and Beth Phoenix are a husband-wife duo with two daughters at home. When they get into the WWE ring together, they are known as “The Grit Couple” because that’s the kind of people they are.

At WWE Elimination Chamber, Edge teamed up with Beth Phoenix for the first time since Royal Rumble 2022 to face off against their rivals from The Judgment Day, Finn Balor and Rhea Ripley.

It was an exciting mixed tag team match with Edge and Beth working well together throughout the match, including the double submission spot as seen above. The match ended when Edge & Beth hit the Shatter Machine double team move that was made famous by The Revival in WWE, but they call it the Big Rig in AEW now.

While Beth Phoenix retired from WWE as a full-time wrestler about a decade ago, she still competes occasionally and continues to perform at a high level whenever she gets in the ring.

During an appearance on Busted Open Radio this week, Beth Phoenix spoke about the high pressure match situation, wanting to keep up and getting great advice from FTR.

“I was really beating myself up after the match because I really wanted to keep up. I felt like in some moments, I wasn’t there. I was talking to the Revival guys, FTR, and they gave me some great advice that I kind of leaned on.

They said, ‘You know, the fact that we are perfectionists, that’s why we end up at the top of our business and being Hall of Fame. The reason we are so hard on ourselves is because we perform at that level and expect that of ourselves.'”

“I was like, okay, I don’t want to take it so hard or take it home with me or really beat myself up, but at the same time, we know, no matter how good the performance is, we can always do better. I think that’s how you perform well for a long while in our business.”

On his podcast this week, FTR’s Dax Harwood talked about how it made him emotional to see his friends Edge and Beth Phoenix using the Shatter Machine at Elimination Chamber.
