Becky Lynch Stuns Bianca Belair To Win SmackDown Women’s Title

Becky Lynch

Becky Lynch is back in WWE and the new SmackDown Women’s Champion!

The 50,000 strong in Las Vegas looked set to be disappointed as it was announced that Sasha Banks wouldn’t be facing Bianca Belair in their much hyped rematch. This brought out Carmella as Belair’s challenger, but just as the champion addressed the crowd, Lynch’s music hit to a thunderous ovation.

After taking care of Carmella outside of the ring, The Man stepped straight to Belair. Grabbing a microphone, Lynch asked the crowd if they wanted to see the pair wrestle for the SmackDown Women’s Title match. Belair accepted but quickly regretted her decision.

Lynch landed the first punch and hit a version of a Rock Bottom called the Man Handle Slam to win the title in a matter of seconds.

Becky Lynch hadn’t appeared inside a WWE ring since the May 11th 2020 episode of Monday Night RAW. On that night, ‘The Man’ vacated her RAW Women’s Championship, presenting the belt to Asuka. The move was so that Lynch could take time off ahead of giving birth to her first child Roux, in December.

The Irishwoman teased an appearance at this year’s WrestleMania while she was later seen backstage at Hell In A Cell. ‘The Man’ was also backstage at Money In The Bank, once again teasing an appearance on social media.

In the lead up to her return, Lynch’s husband Seth Rollins commented that the former champion was aiming to come back but only when the time was right. Rollins’ commented came after fans repeatedly chanted for Lynch during numerous recent matches and episodes of RAW.

Becky Lynch originally signed with WWE back in April 2013, before enjoying a successful stint on NXT. Lynch later joined the main roster in 2015 as part of the ‘Women’s Revolution,’ before going on to win the SmackDown Women’s Championship on three occasions. At the time of her departure Lynch had held the RAW Women’s Champion for 399 days.
