Becky Lynch Claims Ronda Rousey Couldn’t Wrestle
Ronda Rousey has been damning of her time in WWE in recent weeks but Becky Lynch thinks there were issues on Rousey’s end as well.
The former MMA superstar has slammed WWE in recent weeks taking aim at Vince McMahon, Bruce Prichard, and John Laurinaitis. Ronda Rousey detailed how she threatened to quit the company due to her frustrations with creative before eventually walking away after SummerSlam 2023.
During her first run in WWE, Rousey made history as one of the three women to become the first to headline WrestleMania along with Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch. However, despite her status as one of the biggest draws in MMA history, that success didn’t translate to the world of WWE.
Becky Lynch Doesn’t Agree With All Of Ronda Rousey’s Claims
Speaking on The MMA Hour Becky Lynch noted that she doesn’t think Ronda Rousey was being set up to fail but the reality was Rousey just couldn’t wrestle as well as everyone expected after her debut match:
I don’t think anybody was trying to make anybody fail. Nobody’s trying to make anybody fail. I think when you love this, you look to try and make it better. How can I make this better? She was coming from a different industry. She was a star. She should have been handled differently in terms of I think she had such a great first outing that everybody thought she can wrestle. I mean this with respect but she couldn’t wrestle.
What we do isn’t something that you can have one good match and then okay yeah I’m off to the races. It’s a craft and you have to learn your craft and you have to be diligent about learning your craft. Everybody treated Ronda like she already knew it because when she first came in she was good in that first bout but she was also working with Kurt Angle. She was working with Triple H, Stephanie McMahon, It was a well-rehearsed match because everybody wanted her to succeed.
It was like okay she can do this, off to the races. That was mishandling her because she was a star in her own right and she did so much for MMA. In terms of that in booking, that wasn’t done well.
Ronda Rousey has been blasted as bitter and angry by one WWE Hall of Famer for her recent outbursts and there is sure to be more to come when her new book, Our Fight, is released on April 4th.
