Becky Lynch Enjoyed Major WrestleMania Loss More Than Win

Becky Lynch WWE

For an accomplished wrestling legend like Becky Lynch, it’s not always about the wins or losses, but the stories being told along the way.

Becky Lynch has done it all in her WWE career over the last decade. Lynch has won all the singles women’s titles available to her, she has been a Women’s Tag Team Champion and of course, she was the first woman to not only headline a WrestleMania, but win that WrestleMania 35 main event in 2019.

In that WrestleMania 35 main event, Becky Lynch defeated Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey and Smackdown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair by pinning Rousey with a crucifix pin. It was a bit controversial because Rousey’s shoulders were not down for the entire three count, yet the referee counted as if they were.

While that Lynch-Rousey-Flair match was significant due to being a main event, it’s not necessarily remembered for being an epic match. In 2022 at WrestleMania 38, Lynch walked in as the heel Raw Women’s Champion who lost to Bianca Belair in a match that is remembered well for being one of the best women’s matches in WrestleMania history.

Lynch told Sports Illustrated that she enjoyed the WM38 match more than the WM35 main event match.

“I enjoyed WrestleMania 38 where I lost to Bianca more than I enjoyed WrestleMania 35. I think Daniel Bryan said something similar, as well, about enjoying his WrestleMania match against Kofi [at WrestleMania 35] than he did WrestleMania 30. It’s weird like that. Sometimes, what we enjoy in terms of our artistic expression aren’t always the stories that audiences revere the most.”

“When you were a top babyface, you were micromanaged a little more. At WrestleMania 38, I had more freedom creatively. When you’re the villain, you’re making the crowd like someone else. There’s a lot of fun in putting the shine on someone else.”

Becky Lynch Going For Gold At WrestleMania 40

At WrestleMania 40, Becky Lynch is in the title picture again after being in a six-woman tag team match last year. This time around, Lynch gets to challenge Rhea Ripley for the World Heavyweight Title since Lynch won the Women’s Elimination Chamber match.

Following an in-ring confrontation on the March 25th episode of Raw, Lynch got into a brawl with Ripley around ringside as the road to WrestleMania 40 continues
