Becky Lynch Was An Inspiration To Current WWE Champion

Becky Lynch

Becky Lynch’s influence over the WWE locker room runs deep.

Back in 2023, Lyra Valkyria defeated Becky Lynch to win the NXT Women’s Championship in what was the high point of her career to that point.

Fast forward to WrestleMania 41, and the pair teamed together to win the Women’s Tag Team Championship as Lynch served as a late replacement for Bayley. However, the union was shattered just 24 hours later when they lost the gold, and Lynch attacked her partner.

Since then, the Irish stars have clashed in an increasingly bitter rivalry that saw Valkyria beat the veteran to retain the Women’s Intercontinental Championship at Backlash. Not that she was left much time to celebrate, as she was quickly attacked by The Man.

During a new interview with Chris Van Vliet, Valkyria reflected on her rapid WWE rise and was asked about what inspired her to become a wrestler. And she had a very simple answer.

“That was Becky [Lynch]. She was the first. When I saw NXT, the very first thing I saw was her Irish dancing debut. That was it. I was already a fan, but that was what set the ball rolling of she must have started somewhere, she didn’t just spawn over there.

If she’s from Ireland, is there somewhere to do this here? That was what made me go down the Wikipedia rabbit hole of where is there to train in Ireland.”

Becky Lynch Makes Headlines For All The Wrong Reasons

On the May 19 edition of Monday Night Raw, The Man looked to bounce back from her loss to Valkyria at Backlash, but the Women’s Intercontinental Champion had other plans.

During the match, Lynch hit a Manhandle Slam on Natalya and looked to be seconds from victory, until Valkyria dragged her out of the ring. This enabled Roxanne Perez to snatch the win and book her spot in the Women’s Money In The Bank Ladder Match.

Despite the storyline advancing with Valkyria, all the talk on social media after the show was Becky Lynch being caught loudly yelling at Roxanne Perez to get into position for a spot.
