Bayley Wants Mercedes Mone Back In WWE – “I Beg Her Every Day”
Bayley misses having her friend Mercedes Mone in WWE.
The friendship between Bayley and Mercedes Mone is well-documented. Both women signed with WWE in 2012, and their careers have been linked dating back to the early days of NXT. In 2015, their match at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn stole the show, and they became the first women to main event a TakeOver event with their Iron Man Match at TakeOver: Respect.
Fast forward to their main roster careers, and the pair were instrumental in the creation of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships, becoming the inaugural champions in 2019.
Mone made a very public exit from WWE when she and then-tag team partner Trinity Fatu walked out of Monday Night Raw in May of 2022. After a long absence from wrestling, she signed with NJPW and made her debut at Wrestle Kingdom 17. Mone defeated KAIRI to become the IWGP Women’s Champion at Battle in the Valley, but lost the belt to Mayu Iwatani at STARDOM All Star Grand Queendom.
There were plans in place for Mone to become the inaugural NJPW STRONG Women’s Champion at Resurgence in May, but when she suffered a mid-match injury, the finish was changed on the fly and Willow Nightingale became champion instead.
Speaking to Gorilla Position, Bayley opened up about missing her friend in WWE, but ultimately being happy for her that she’s finding her own success elsewhere.
“I beg her every day. I beg her every chance…you know what, it doesn’t matter where it is. It doesn’t matter how it happens. I would love to one day step back in the ring with her. Whether it’s teaming with her, whether it’s against her. But right now, I just want whatever happiness she needs to feel, whatever she needs to accomplish her dreams, accomplish her goals. I’m just happy to see her happy.”
