Bayley’s Interference Helps Becky Lynch Retain Title At WWE SummerSlam
Becky Lynch retained her Women’s Intercontinental Championship with the unintentional help of Bayley.
Becky Lynch returned to WWE after almost a year of absence to replace Bayley as Lyra Valkyria’s tag team partner at WrestleMania 41. Although they won the title at the Show of Shows, the two Irish ladies lost the belts the following Monday on RAW to The Judgment Day.
After the match, Lynch turned heel and attacked Valkyria. She later revealed that she was the one who took out Bayley before WrestleMania. At Money in the Bank, The Man ended Valkyria’s Women’s Intercontinental Championship reign.
While Bayely returned to go after Lynch, The Role Model’s relationship with Valkyria deteriorated. On the June 23 episode of RAW, Bayley challenged The Man for the Women’s Intercontinental Title, but the match ended in disqualification after interference from the former champion.
The three superstars then squared off in a Triple-Threat for the title at Evolution, where Lynch succeeded again in leaving with the title. The following night on RAW, Valkyria beat Bayley in a two-out-of-three falls match to earn another title match against Lynch at SummerSlam.
Lyra Valkyria & Becky Lynch Had A Mind-Blowing Match At WWE SummerSlam
As Becky Lynch and Lyra Valkyria squared off in a no disqualification match tonight at SummerSlam, neither of the two superstars wasted an opportunity to torture the other. They used several weapons, including kendo sticks, chairs, a toolbox, and even a crowbar.
At one point, Lynch tied her opponent’s hands using a zip tie before proceeding to assault her using multiple kendo sticks. Despite her situation, the 28-year-old fought back. She finally succeeded in freeing her hand after going under the ring.
Nevertheless, Lynch later trapped Valkyria inside a steel chair before delivering a devastating stomp to her opponent. While the former champion seemed out, The Man attempted to finish her off with the crowbar before Bayley interfered.

Lynch encouraged The Role Model to use the crowbar on Valkyria herself, but Bayley refused. The two then brawled before Valkyria made a surprise comeback in the match, putting The Man through a table.
While Valkyria seemed close to beating Lynch, Bayley attempted to hit Lynch with a steel chain but accidentally took out the 28-year-old former champion, allowing The Man to finish her off with a Manhandle Slam to retain the title.
