Baron Corbin Admits He Used To Dread Working For WWE

WWE Baron Corbin

Baron Corbin has opened up about the lowest point of his WWE career.

The former Arizona Cardinals offensive tackle enjoyed a strong start to his WWE career after joining NXT in August 2012, becoming a mainstay with the company’s third brand until he made his surprise main roster debut at WrestleMania 32.

Corbin’s victory that night in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal started a successful run for the Kansas native, who would go on to win the Money In The Bank contract and be crowned King Of The Ring in the ensuing years.

By 2021, however, Corbin’s act had become stale and a string of improbable gimmicks failed to connect with fans. Ultimately the 39 year-old would be reassigned back to NXT in the WWE Draft in May 2023.

During a recent appearance on Love Wrestling, Corbin admitted that his move back to NXT kick stated a much needed career revival after he had started to dread coming to work:

“100% was. It relit that fire that I had when I started. When you’re around those guys, you can’t help it. Like I think maybe at the end of my WWE time, before I went down there, I was complacent.

I was, you know, dreading getting on a plane every week and going to work. Now I’m excited. I’m like, hey, is it Thursday? Do I get to get on a plane? I’m like, where’s the show? What are we doing?

But also, too, because the WWE universe is hot right now, man. They’re excited for everything. They’re cheering me, which is crazy. I never thought in my lifetime I would see that.”

Baron Corbin Almost Headed For The Octagon

Baron Corbin has previously admitted that fans were almost denied any opportunity to see ‘The Lone Wolf’ in the squared circle at all.

Having concluded his football career in September 2011, Corbin had to evaluate his future options and came close to opting for a career in UFC instead.
