Backstage Update On Possible WWE Cuts

Vince McMahon Triple H WWE

In the past week, a report suggested that cuts were coming to WWE once again after WrestleMania but a new update has indicated those in the company might not be worried about such an occurrence.

Cuts to personnel in WWE are nothing new but in 2020 the company began slicing its roster to an extent not seen before. Over the next two years, the company released dozens and dozens of stars as well as letting several people in backstage roles go as well.

When Triple H took over the creative side of WWE after Vince McMahon retired in July 2022, the company sought to bring some of those back, and stars such as Bray Wyatt, Braun Strowman, and Dakota Kai, among many others, returned as well as the likes of Road Dogg and William Regal who had previously worked closely with Triple H in NXT.

WrestlingNewsPremium reported that “talent and staff” within the company expected releases to begin again very soon. Dave Meltzer made mention of cutbacks in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter but those were in relation solely to WrestleMania itself with the belief that the company is looking to make savings on that event.

Fightful Select has now reported that there was “no talk backstage” of any cuts at Friday’s SmackDown show perhaps indicating that those in the company do not believe the mass releases of before will be returning.
