Austin Theory Missed Recent WWE Live Event Due To Filming With John Cena
There is now a reason why Austin Theory mysteriously missed a recent live event match despite being healthy and no explanation was given by WWE.
At the December 30th WWE live event in Toronto, Austin Theory was scheduled to headline the show in a Steel Cage Match against Seth “Freakin” Rollins. Theory, the US Champion, wrestles Rollins at live events often including at that post-Christmas tour.
Instead of Rollins facing Theory, the fans in Toronto saw Rollins defeat Finn Balor in the Steel Cage Match main event. Theory was advertised for the show, but then the fans were told he wouldn’t be there.
In reports that followed, there was speculation about what happened to Theory. There was no injury, nor any issue with going to Canada since he was at the Raw in Toronto just three months earlier. His absence was a mystery.
Fightful Select has provided an update on the situation with a report that WWE planned on something between Cena and Theory while Cena was at the December 30th edition of Smackdown in Tampa for Smackdown.
As for what Cena and Theory taped, Fightful wasn’t told if it was for digital, for future use, for the 2K video game or something else.
There have been rumors of a Cena-Theory match at WrestleMania 39 this April going back to last summer. There have also been rumors about Cena potentially facing Logan Paul as well, but neither of those matches are confirmed at this point.
It should be noted that the photo at the top of this post is not from whatever Cena and Theory may have filmed on December 30th. It is from a past interaction between them.
