Austin Theory Talks Interrupting John Cena’s WWE Raw Return
Austin Theory has spoken about interrupting John Cena’s WWE Raw return, which led to their WrestleMania match being official.
It had been rumored for weeks that former 16-time WWE World Champion John Cena was going to face Austin Theory at WrestleMania 39 on April 1st or 2nd. When WWE announced Cena would appear on the March 6th Raw in Boston, it was not a shock that the United States Champion Theory marched his way out there before Cena could even start.
When Theory got in the ring with Cena, the youngest US Champion in WWE history made it clear that he wanted to face Cena in a match at WrestleMania.
Cena made it clear to Theory that the cocky champion wasn’t ready for it. Theory would go on to talk some more while also insulting the WWE Universe, so Cena said because Theory did that, Cena was going to accept the match. Cena vs. Theory is on for WrestleMania 39. During the promo exchange, a lot of people believed Cean “won” the battle rather easily although Cena definitely spoke more than Theory did.
The matchup between Austin Theory and John Cena will be for the United States Championship that Cena first won all the way back in 2004 at WrestleMania 20. Now Cena will try to win the US Title again on the grandest stage of them all.
During an interview on WWE’s After the Bell podcast with Corey Graves & Kevin Patrick, Austin Theory talked about the promo exchange with Cena.
“I think to be completely honest, in that moment, I think I just kind of knew what was going to happen knowing like when he goes out there. We’re in Boston, the crowds gonna be crazy for him, and it doesn’t matter if I’ve been there every single week, you know, working and grinding and putting my name, you know, on the print of Monday Night Raw. It’s how it always is, when that guy comes back, everybody goes crazy.”
“And I think I didn’t want to give him any time to speak. So that’s why I immediately came out. But uh, yeah, we all seen you know, when I got out there, he had a lot to say. But you know, me personally, it’s like, of course, you would have a lot to say to me. I mean, I’m the most important thing here. And if you’re trying to be important again, I’m the guy.”
Clearly, Austin Theory is not lacking confidence going into WrestleMania 39 against his wrestling idol, John Cena.
