A former WWE Attitude Era star has re-emerged in a surprise rare appearance for the company.

Survivor Series 1997 is a show infamous for the Montreal Screwjob, but that show also saw an on-screen in-ring debut in the company for The Lethal Weapon Steve Blackman. Blackman became a memorable part of the company during the Attitude Era and held the Hardcore Championship six different times.

However, Blackman is perhaps best remembered for his feud with Shane McMahon that saw them face-off at SummerSlam 2000 in an unforgettable bout. It proved to be the first time fans witnessed the insane lengths McMahon would go to as he fell from the TitanTron for the very first time with Blackman then leaping on him to win the bout and the Hardcore Title.

Steve Blackman Looks Back On Wild Shane McMahon WWE Match

Now Steve Blackman has made a very rare public appearance on the WWE Vault YouTube channel to introduce his match with Shane McMahon:

Hey guys, this is Steve Blackman. I’m here to discuss my match with Shane from SummerSlam. That match was cool, I loved doing crazier stuff like that with the hardcore matches. And Shane was so hated at the time, again it was great getting great pops like that every time you hit him. When Test and Albert interfered it was a lot more fighting back, but I got to showcase my weapons. I used to love doing that stuff.

“And then obviously going up the TitanTron, I don’t think the people were sure or unsure what was going on at that point. When I knocked Shane off, he dropped that whole distance and I came down and dropped an elbow on him – just a great pop. When you’ve got the people like that and they’re popping, dying to see that happen, you know, it’s just a great day. Hope you guys enjoy the match.

Since the end of his wrestling career, the former WWE star has put his martial skills to good use as a bail bondsman.
