Attitude Era Favourite Never Felt Respected In WWE
Former WWE Superstar Dustin Rhodes has ruled out a return to the company.
Rhodes initally made his bow for the organisation in September 1990 before going on to team with his Father, ‘The American Dream’ Dusty Rhodes in a tag team loss against ‘Million Dollar Man’ Ted Dibiase and Virgil at Royal Rumble 1991.
He swiftly made the move to WCW, where he made his name as a singles competitor during a five-year spell with the Atlanta-based organisation, including two stints as WCW United States Champion.
Rhodes returned to WWE in August 1995 as the controversial, envelope-pushing villain, Goldust and would go on to capture the WWE Intercontinental Championship from Razor Ramon at Royal Rumble 1996.
The Texas-born Superstar would remain with the company for the bulk of the following 23 years before requesting his release in April 2019 to join brother Cody Rhodes in the fledgling AEW promotion.
A critically acclaimed bout with his brother at Double Or Nothing 2019 would launch something of a career resurgence for Rhodes, who remains with AEW to this day and is the current co-holder of both the ROH World Tag Championship and ROH World Trios Championship.
At 56 years old, Rhodes is undoubtedly at the back end of a storied career with many speculating that he could return to WWE for one last run ahead of an expected WWE Hall Of Fame induction.
Rhodes recently dismissed that possibility, however, when answering a fan question on social media site ‘X’:
“Nope!! AEW is where I will finish. Only place I have ever felt respected.”
WWE Superstar Set For In-Ring Absence
Another top star unlikely to be seen in a WWE ring in the near future is Chelsea Green.
The entertaining Canadian has told fans she is taking a break after losing the WWE Women’s United States Championship to Zelina Vega on the 25th April edition of SmackDown.
