Why Asuka Winning WWE Queen Of The Ring Is A No-Brainer
Asuka is back in WWE after 13 months out with an injury, and now it’s been explained just why it makes perfect sense for her to become Queen of the Ring.
Before the June 16th edition of Raw, Asuka was last in action at Backlash France in 2024, where she and Kairi Sane lost the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship to Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill. That win saw Jade Cargill pick up the first gold in her WWE career.
Asuka finally made her long-awaited return to the ring as part of the Queen of the Ring tournament. The Empress of Tomorrow was part of a four-way match involving Stephanie Vaquer, Ivy Nile, and Raquel Rodriguez.
Rodriguez looked to have the match won when Rhea Ripley intervened and nailed her with a Rip Tide on the floor. Asuka then hit the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion with a hip attack, now dubbed the Empress Impact, to pick up the win and advance to the Queen of the Ring semi-final.
Will Asuka Win Queen Of The Ring?
With 3 top stars standing in Asuka’s way, it’s still a tough road to the crown for the Japanese star. However, WWE broadcaster Sam Roberts has explained on NotSam Wrestling why success for Asuka makes perfect sense as she could face a familiar opponent for the Women’s World Title at SummerSlam:
Asuka winning the Queen of the Ring makes a lot of sense because then you’re left with Asuka vs. IYO SKY at SummerSlam, and that’s kind of a no-brainer. Asuka vs. IYO SKY at SummerSlam is easy pickings.
