Anthony Bowens of The Acclaimed has revealed that he had big plans for Billy Gunn’s birthday surprise that likely would have made a lot of people happy.

The Acclaimed duo consisting of Anthony Bowens and Max Caster are arguably the most popular tag team in all of professional wrestling right now. The duo is known for Caster’s interesting raps on the way to the ring, Bowens’ boundless enthusiasm, their tremendous in-ring skills and of course, “scissoring” with their friend/mentor Billy Gunn, who is a WWE Hall of Famer as well as one of the best tag team wrestlers ever.

In September 2022, The Acclaimed became AEW Tag Team Champions for the first time when they defeated Keith Lee & Swerve Strickland. The Acclaimed have taken on all comers and have held those titles for about four months.

On the November 2nd, 2022 edition of AEW Dynamite, The Acclaimed had a birthday party for Billy Gunn.

Anthony Bowens of The Acclaimed revealed during a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet that the tag team had a big surprise planned for Billy that didn’t end up happening.

“Yes, yes, yes, yes. And I don’t like pulling the curtain too far back. But I will say that the Daddy Ass Birthday Bash celebration. I thought it would be a fun idea, and I did put it together. What you saw people enjoyed, but was about maybe 30 or 40% of what I had originally planned.”

“[Chris – Were you going to invite Chuck Palumbo?] He was going to be my birthday gift. I thought the irony of me reuniting Billy and Chuck would be perfect for this birthday bash. But he wasn’t available last minute. I don’t like putting things out there. But like, I really want people [to know this one].”

As a tag team, Billy & Chuck were two-time former Tag Team Champions in WWE about twenty years ago.
