Another NXT Champion Tipped For WWE Main Roster Call Up
NXT could be about to lose another champion as the WWE main roster looks for more new talent.
The first SmackDown of 2026 was a night of surprises as Randy Orton made his shock return to the show after many months out of action. There was an even bigger moment later on the show as Matt Cardona made his official return to the company and consigned Zack Ryder to history once and for all.
That show also saw Trick Williams appear, and the former NXT Champion is now part of the blue brand. On the January 5th edition of Raw, Je’Von Evans also left NXT behind him as he joined the WWE main roster as part of Raw.
There have been strong rumours that Blake Monroe could be set to follow in their footsteps, but another NXT champion could also be on their way out of the brand.
WWE Main Roster Looking For NXT Champion
Fightful Select has reported that NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne has been discussed for a potential call-up to the WWE main roster. NXT higher-ups are said to have been impressed with how Jayne rose to the occasion repeatedly in 2025.
Jayne appeared on SmackDown twice in 2022 as part of Toxic Attraction, and after making a good impression, there is said to have been a semi-regular discussion about a main roster role for her.
Jayne’s rise to the top of the brand as NXT Women’s Champion was said to have been a “sink or swim” opportunity for the star, and one she has been credited with taking full advantage of.
