Andrade El Idolo and Charlotte Flair ended their marriage while both were signed to WWE.

El Idolo, who was earlier on rival promotion AEW, returned to the Stamford promotion by making a surprise appearance at the 2024 Men’s Royal Rumble match.

His sudden departure from the company on September 13 left fans wondering if things turning sour with Flair had anything to do with it.

However, the 36-year-old never really spoke about his leaving WWE or his now ex-wife, Charlotte Flair. Until now, that is.

Andrade recently appeared on Los Protagonistas, where he revealed the timeline, the frustrations he dealt with in the company, and how things got complicated after his divorce.

I returned to WWE a year and a half ago… I was happy earning millions but I was married. My ex‑wife’s name is Charlotte Flair and the idea was to return to WWE, to be with her, and many things happened. We got divorced and I was not comfortable in some things.

He also got warnings over certain medications and supplements that are usually allowed in Mexican promotions, but not in WWE, leading to frustrations.

We have certain restrictions… because of doping and things like that. I was also a little annoyed. [H/T: Ringside News]

What Was Reported About Andrade’s WWE Departure?

Following Andrade’s removal from WWE, Dave Meltzer gave an insight into what actually happened during an episode of Wrestling Observer Radio.

Despite media speculations, Meltzer claimed that the Mexican superstar had found himself in the midst of disciplinary problems.

What happened was a couple of weeks ago, um, it is actually a story from a couple of weeks ago that just broke today. I mean, he wasn’t fired until today, but a couple of weeks ago, there was a disciplinary thing, and all I know is it was at a TV shoot, and he was told to go home, and he’s not been used since.

Since then, multiple reports emerged, with one even claiming that he was escorted out of the building during a SmackDown taping.

During the interview, Andrade said that he left WWE on good terms, but that quickly changed after he returned to NXT on October 1, with the company accusing him of violating his non-compete clause.
