Andrade Pulled From Indie Match As WWE Contract Issues Continue
Andrade’s career remains in flux.
After less than two years back with WWE, Andrade made his shock return to AEW on the October 1 edition of Dynamite.
Just days after his firing by the sports entertainment, the star appeared on Dynamite to confront Kenny Omega. However, since then, he hasn’t been used again or even mentioned on AEW television. In fact, it’s been reported that AEW announcers are banned from mentioning the former NXT Champion.
This was followed by a report that claimed Andrade was subject to a non-compete clause, meaning he couldn’t appear for another company until 90 days after his WWE exit. At the time of his departure, it was believed that, as the star had been fired due to wellness policy violations, a non-compete clause didn’t apply.
To further complicate matters, it was then reported that new WWE/TKO contracts come with a one-year non-compete clause if the talent involved is fired. If enforced, this clause could keep Andrade out of the ring until September 2026.
Andrade Misses Another Match
As his AEW absence continues, Andrade’s bookings on the independent scene have also taken a hit. The star had been due to compete at a WWC event in Puerto Rico on October 18, but he was pulled from the match.
Despite this, according to Fightful Select, Andrade still travelled to the event and addressed fans even though he didn’t wrestle.
During a recent press conference, Tony Khan said he was excited to work with Andrade again, but avoided questions about his contractual status.
