Andrade Turns Down MJF’s Invitation After Shock WWE Exit

WWE released Andrade on September 13, 2025.

Andrade originally joined the Stamford-based promotion in 2015 and was granted his first release in March 2021 after he requested it. He debuted in AEW as Andrade El Idolo in July 2021, then left AEW in December 2023. He made a surprise return to WWE at the Royal Rumble in January 2024, embarking on a second stint that lasted just over a year and a half.

Unlike previous departures, this release was not mutual or related to budget cuts. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter cited a disciplinary incident at a WWE television taping a few weeks before his official release as the primary reason. He was sent home from a SmackDown taping and was subsequently suspended without pay. Reports also mention a violation of WWE’s wellness policy, though specifics have not been disclosed.

By early September, the recently released star had not been backstage for nearly a month, and WWE quietly moved his profile to WWE’s alumni section, signaling the termination of his contract. His final match occurred at SummerSlam 2025 in a six-team TLC Tag Team Championship bout.

MJF Invited Andrade To Join Him in Mexico For CMLL’s 92nd Aniversario

MJF is scheduled to put his CMLL World Light Heavyweight Championship on the line against Mistico in a Title vs. Mask match at Arena México at CMLL’s 92nd Aniversario on Friday, September 19.

Days before his title defense, he invited the ex-AEW star to join him in Mexico to watch him beat Mistico during their match, but Andrade refused.

MJF tweeted, “Ay yo @AndradeElIdolo Ima be in Mexico beating the ever loving shit out of Mistico @CMLL_OFICIAL infront of all your broke a** country men. Lmk if you wanna grab a marg before I hope on my jet to Toronto to whoop mark briscoes hillbilly a**.”

El Idolo replied to Friedman’s tweet with a flipping off emoji, which in turn drew this response from The Salt of the Earth:
