Andrade Could Join Major Promotion After WWE Exit
Former WWE star Andrade has been urged by Dave Meltzer to join a major promotion after his surprise release.
Andrade was shockingly let go by WWE in a situation that has left more questions than answers. The Mexican star was escorted out of SmackDown, which many believe was down to his suspension because of a wellness policy violation.
His last match in the company came at SummerSlam, where he teamed with Rey Fenix to challenge for the WWE Tag Team Championship in a six-pack TLC match.
Andrade only rejoined WWE in January 2024 following his exit from AEW. Given his history with both companies, it might be time for him to try somewhere he’s not been in a very long time.
Andrade A Good Fit For NJPW?
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer explained why he thinks Andrade could be a good fit for New Japan Pro Wrestling:
He would do well in New Japan, he may not have a choice. I mean, there’s not the money in New Japan. If it was a different period and New Japan was competitive with the United States for money, yeah he’d be best off there … I’m sure he would love to work CMLL, and I think under any circumstances I kind of expect he’ll do some CMLL, but that can’t be his main gig because again it doesn’t pay.
Look, if AEW doesn’t take him, there may be no option, New Japan’s the next best option or TNA. TNA may be the one that gets him.
Given TNA’s partnership with WWE, it remains uncertain if they’d be interested in signing Andrade depending on the true nature of his WWE exit.
As La Sombra, Andrade previously held the IWGP Intercontinental Championship in NJPW and competed in the company’s World Tag League in 2013 and 2014 with Tetsuya Naito.
