Andrade Linked With Remarkable Return To WWE

Andrade El Idolo makes his entrance on AEW Rampage 2022

Could Andrade really go back to WWE?

On October 1, Andrade El Idolo made a shock return to AEW just weeks after it was reported he’d been fired by WWE. According to that report, the former NXT Champion was let go after several breaches of the company’s wellness policy.

However, despite confronting Kenny Omega during his comeback, the star hasn’t been on AEW television since.

To further complicate matters, it was then reported that new WWE/TKO contracts come with a one-year non-compete clause if the talent involved is fired. If enforced, this clause could keep Andrade out of the ring until September 2026.

However, it’s been suggested that the star would likely win a legal challenge if he contested the case in court.

Fresh Twist In Andrade Saga

Away from WWE and AEW, Andrade continues to be advertised for several independent bookings, but his involvement in those bookings remains unclear. The star had been due to wrestle in Puerto Rico for WWC on October 20, but despite attending, he didn’t wrestle.

Meanwhile, a new report from Mike Johnson of PWInsider has hinted that another stunning twist in the story isn’t out of the question.

As noted by Johnson, there’s been chatter within “some lucha circles” that WWE could be using the rumoured one-year non-compete clause as leverage to bring Andrade back into the fold. Although no one in the company has confirmed the claims, Johnson states that this is the “story making the rounds in Mexico.”
