Andrade Hits Back At Report About If He Signed AEW Contract

Andrade AEW Return

Andrade El Idolo has revealed his AEW contract status while shutting down Dave Meltzer. Again.

El Idolo rejoined WWE in January 2024 but was unceremoniously let go in September 2025. Amid speculation, it was revealed that he was released due to disciplinary issues behind the scenes.

One report even said that he was escorted out of the building during a SmackDown taping.

On October 1, he shockingly appeared on AEW Dynamite, attacking Kenny Omega before joining the Don Callis Family.

The Stamford promotion subsequently sent him and AEW a notice, stating that he had violated the company’s non-compete clause, resulting in him getting pulled from other shows.

Recently, Andrade spoke on Los Protagonistas and said that certain restrictions within WWE annoyed him. During the show, he also claimed that he didn’t know about the existence of a non-compete clause until he received the legal notice.

Andrade Did Not Sign An AEW Contract

Dave Meltzer reviewed Andrade’s interview on Los Protagonistas. Noting the Mexican superstar’s claim that he was not aware of a non-compete clause, he claimed that he may have signed a contract or told Tony Khan that there was no non-compete clause in place.

Meltzer then said that the way the 36-year-old has been speaking about the clause will not hold up in court.

Andrade has apparently taken issue with Meltzer’s statement and slammed the veteran journalist for lack of research in his report. Posting a tweet on X, he revealed that he did not sign a contract with AEW.

@davemeltzerWON I didn’t sign any contract! Sir, you say it with such certainty, that I signed a contract, when that’s just another one of your lies.
Do some more research, Sir. I was in negotiations to sign because Mr. Tony Khan and the AEW team were having good discussions, and we came to an excellent agreement.
I’m especially grateful to TK and AEW in general. Then, I received a non-compete clause after my AEW debut and my first match in Tijuana (The Crash), but I want to clarify that I didn’t know if that was the issue with WWE (honestly, I don’t know the answer to that).
Lo mejor para usted!!! 👍🏼
