Andrade Reveals If Charlotte Flair Influenced His WWE Firing

Andrade has revealed whether his ex-wife Charlotte Flair had anything to do with his WWE firing.

On October 1st, Andrade El Idolo made a shock return to AEW just weeks after it was reported he’d been fired by WWE. According to that report, the former NXT Champion was let go after several breaches of the company’s wellness policy.

However, his return to AEW was very short-lived as it soon emerged that WWE contracts contain a non-compete clause for an entire year if the star in question is fired for cause.

It’s been suggested that Andrade would win a legal challenge against his former employer if he fought that clause in court, but that doesn’t look like that will happen.

Charlotte Flair Not Behind Andrade’s WWE Exit

Despite it being widely reported that Andrade was let go for failing a drug test, rumours have persisted in some quarters that the Mexican star’s ex-wife, Charlotte Flair, could have influenced WWE’s decision.

But that’s simply not true.

Speaking on the El Ring podcast, Andrade made clear that Charlotte Flair had nothing to do with his WWE exit as he paid tribute to her:

We started having some problems, and then came the divorce. People ask if she had something to do with my leaving WWE — she didn’t. She never went to management to get me fired or anything like that. I respect her a lot. She was an incredible woman, a great wife. I wish her the best.
