Alexa Bliss Impersonator Scammed 79-Year-Old Out Of $1 Million
A man handed over around $1 million to a mystery figure he believed was Alexa Bliss.
According to a report from Tara Siegel Bernard in the New York Times, a man was scammed out of his retirement savings, and granddaughter’s college fund by an Alex Bliss impersonator.
Alfred Mancinell, now deceased, had become convinced he was in a relationship with Bliss, handing over a series of payments totaling around $1 million. Mancinell’s son Chris had tried to move his late father’s last $100,000 into a safe account, but his father sued him.
Prior to sending money to the fake Alexa Bliss, Alfred was sending money to someone named “Kate,” who claimed she had a sick child. He was also in contact with someone named “Anna.” Alfred became involved in the scams in 2018, but things grew worse during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Chris told the New York Times that there was nothing anyone could do to convince his father he wasn’t in a romantic relationship with the WWE star, and all of his granddaughters were aware of the situation.
In the messages to Alfred, scammers speaking as Bliss said Vince McMahon had humiliated her after she rejected his advances. The scammers also requested money for supposed hospital bills.
The report noted that Alfred and his wife had lost their first child to leukemia at just three years old. His wife later passed away when his sons were nine and 14. Alfred was also forced into early retirement.
Chris added that had his father not died in the summer, he would have likely continued to send money to the fraudsters. He found documents suggesting Alfred was preparing to sell his home, while he had already taken out personal loans on his cars and televisions.
Alexa Bliss Confirms Plans For WWE Return
Meanwhile, in a recent post on social media, Alexa Bliss confirmed she will be returning to WWE before urging fans to enjoy the current product.
Bliss has been absent from WWE since January 2023 and gave birth to her first child that November. The star has done little to hide the fact she’s back in training, and during the September 23rd episode of Raw, her doll Lily appeared in the background during a segment involving the Judgment Day.
