Aleister Black Competes In First WWE Match In 5 Years
Aleister Black was back in action in WWE for the first time in almost five years on SmackDown one week after his return to the company.
Mystery first began to build when SmackDown took place in Barcelona, as a 15-second video that featured a dark room with some smoke filling the screen aired. There was no person in the video, but the number 4 appeared.
On SmackDown in Fort Worth, Texas, the waiting was over. Former WWE Champion The Miz took to the ring to complain about not being respected. It became very clear, very quickly, where this was going as the arena was soon bathed in darkness and familiar music hit. A close-up of candles preceded Aleister Black slowly rising from the floor as his return to WWE was complete.
Saying absolutely nothing, Aleister Black wiped The Miz out with Black Mass before sitting cross-legged in the ring.
Aleister Black Wins On WWE Return
That led to the May 2 edition of SmackDown, where Black went one-on-one with The Miz in his first WWE match in almost five years. Miz had Carmelo Hayes at ringside for the bout, and a distraction from Hayes allowed The Miz to take an unexpected early advantage.
However, the ending was inevitable as Aleister Black nailed Black Mass to pick up the win. After the bout, Black had a staredown with Carmelo Hayes, suggesting the two former NXT Champions are set for a match in the very near future.
Prior to SmackDown, the last time Black had a match in WWE was on the October 12 2020, edition of Raw when he lost a No Disqualification bout against Kevin Owens. It was another 8 months before Black was eventually released by WWE.
