AJ Styles is ready for battle.

After a social media campaign from the wrestlers themselves, John Cena and AJ Styles will wrestle for the final time at Crown Jewel in Perth, Australia. With his retirement moving ever closer, the match is expected to be one of Cena’s final three matches.

Ahead of the match, Styles appeared at WWE’s Crown Jewel Kick-Off event, where he was interviewed by Michael Cole. When asked just how much the match with Cena means, Styles dived into their extensive history.

“It’s huge! There’s a reason, just like you said, two guys who got in the ring, you never thought you’d see in a WWE ring together. John Cena, AJ Styles, the WWE guy, against the TNA guy. That’s what made it special.

I don’t know how, and I don’t know why, ’cause John Cena and I are nothing alike in any kind of way, but when we get into the ring together, it’s magic.

So I can promise you this: when it’s all said and done tomorrow night, John Cena and AJ Styles will leave it all in the ring.”

AJ Styles Doubles Down On Retirement Promise

During the same appearance, AJ Styles confirmed that he plans to retire in 2026. The comments came after Styles claimed that he’ll hang up his boots within the next 12 months, and likely after one more match at WrestleMania.

It was recently reported that Styles’ current WWE contract runs until February, meaning, as things stand, he’d be a free agent before WrestleMania 42.

Speaking in Perth, Styles admitted he’s growing increasingly worried about embarrassing himself in the ring as he gets older. And as such, he wants to retire while he’s still performing at a high level.
