What Did AJ Styles Know About WWE Crown Jewel Introductions?
AJ Styles got a special introduction at WWE Crown Jewel, and he apparently had no idea it was coming.
During the retirement tour of John Cena, he has been receiving special introductions as the “Never Seen 17” and “Greatest of All Time” among other things. Cena received that same sort of introduction at Crown Jewel in Perth as well, but he also did something special for his opponent.
Prior to the John Cena-AJ Styles match at Crown Jewel, Cena handed Taylor a piece of paper to read so that they could introduce Styles in a special way.
“Ladies and gentlemen, the definition of total nonstop action, the ace and undisputed boss of the Bullet Club. It is our honor as fans, and my honor as an opponent, to see if he can beat up John Cena one final time. He is the face that runs the place, the Phenomenal AJ Styles!”
When Taylor said the Bullet Club part, Styles could be seen saying, “Oh s**t” in response to that. The Bullet Club and TNA references are things from Styles’ past, along with calling him the “Ace” from his New Japan run.
It’s not known whether Cena personally wrote the Styles introduction or if he received help from people backstage, but it was worded as if Cena wrote it.
Fightful Select reports that Styles didn’t know the special introduction was coming. It was also added that there are not expected to be any issues with mentioning the “Bullet Club” name. They were a group that Styles was a part of in New Japan.
Cena won the match over Styles, and it was incredible. Fightful added that they received a standing ovation when they got backstage, which is no surprise.
AJ Styles Plans To Retire In 2026
During the John Cena-AJ Styles match at Crown Jewel, WWE announcer Michael Cole openly talked about not only Cena’s retirement this December, but also Styles’s plan to retire in 2026. Both men are 48 years old and have had incredible careers over the last 25 years.
AJ Styles spoke about his retirement plans at the WWE Crown Jewel Kickoff Show, expressing his desire to spend more time at home with his family.
“I’m getting old folks. Listen if I could find the fountain of youth and take a couple of sips I’d wrestle for the rest of my life. But you know, I am getting older, the fear of embarrassing myself is getting closer.
And you know what? There comes a time In a man’s life when he has to take care of business but when business is done it’s time to take care of his family. I need to spend time with my family.
The whole idea with wrestling and having an amazing future in this business is to be able to retire one day and in 2026 I will retire.”
When Styles speaks about wanting to be home for his family, it makes sense since he and his wife have four kids, so it’s a busy life for him at home.
