AJ Styles Feared Gruesome Sight After WWE Injury
AJ Styles has explained the injury that caused his WWE SmackDown return to meet a premature end amid suggestions it’s all part of the show.
AJ Styles made his long-awaited return to SmackDown in Nashville but his hero’s welcome was soon cut short when Carmelo Hayes interrupted. Styles was ready to fight there and then challenging Hayes to a match on the show but the former NXT Champion declined.
When he was then offered a shot at the US Title by LA Knight if he defeated Styles, the fight was on after all. However, the match was brought to a premature end as Styles seemed to suffer an injury to his ankle.
The WWE commentary team noted the ringside doctor had mentioned Styles might have suffered a sprain and referee Charles Robinson called the match off. It was later noted in the show that Styles was being evaluated for his apparent injury at a hospital.
There have since been conflicting reports over the legitimacy of AJ Styles’ injury but now Styles himself has hit out at claims that it’s not real.
AJ Styles Feared Bone Sticking Out Of His Foot
Taking to social media, AJ Styles explained what his injury was and said he thought he could be looking at something very gruesome following the match:
It’s called a Lisfranc injury. Look it up, it sucks! I thought when I took off my boot. I would have a bone sticking out of my foot.
