AJ Styles Confirmed For TNA Slammiversary

AJ Styles WWE

AJ Styles is heading back to the company where he made his name.

After stopping off in WCW during the company’s dying days and turning down a WWE developmental deal in 2002, AJ Styles headed to the independent scene, Ring of Honor, and the newly launched TNA.

While he became a regular for ROH, it was in TNA where he truly made his name. Over the next 11 years, he established himself as one of the best wrestlers in the world, becoming one of the company’s major success stories in the process.

Although he left the promotion in late 2013 after failing to agree on a new contract, he remains a legend to TNA fans.

As soon as WWE’s working relationship with TNA came into play, Styles was linked with a return to the company. That speculation recently went into overdrive when TNA boss Carlos Silva said that Slammiversary would be “Phenomenal.”

AJ Styles Is Back

During the July 17 edition of Impact, the speculation and rumours were finally confirmed. Although there was no live appearance from Styles or even an appearance on tape, a vignette set the stage for his comeback.

In the clip, the camera tracks to a storage chest adorned with a worn TNA sticker. Several cuts of Styles’ matches then flash across the screen before his old ring jacket is shown inside the chest.

There’s no word on what Styles will be doing on the show, and whether that will include wrestling a full match. The veteran hasn’t wrestled since beat JD McDonagh on the June 16 edition of Raw.

Back in June 2024, AJ Styles admitted that he’d love to return to TNA if the right opportunity came up.

At Slammiversary, Knockouts Champion Masha Slamovich will face NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne in a huge “Title vs. Title” match. Meanwhile, Trick Williams will defend the TNA World Championship against Joe Hendry and Mike Santana.
