AJ Lee Writing Movie For Iconic Franchise
After a decade of absence, AJ Lee returned to WWE on the September 5, 2025, episode of Friday Night SmackDown.
The Geek Goddess wrestled her first return match at Wrestlepalooza alongside her husband, CM Punk. She is set to participate in the women’s Wargames match at Survivor Series on November 29. She will team up with Rhea Ripley, IYO SKY, Alexa Bliss, and Charlotte Flair against Becky Lynch, Nia Jax, Lash Legend, Asuka, and Kairi Sane.
While she was absent from WWE, she focused on writing, publishing a best-selling memoir, co-writing comic books, and contributing to film and television. During her time away, she fell in love with writing, and she is still pursuing this passion even after making an in-ring return.
AJ Lee Is Writing An Anime Movie
Speaking to Stephanie McMahon on her What’s Your Story? podcast, AJ Lee revealed that she and her writing partner, Aimee Garcia, are developing a movie for Toei Animation, the renowned studio behind Dragon Ball Z.
AJ Lee, a lifelong anime fan, described this opportunity as a “dream come true” moment.
“I think this is the first time anyone’s hearing this. So we’re breaking big deal, breaking news. Here we are, another example of like manifestation, one of my favorites. I love anime so much, and so one of my favorite companies growing up was Toei. They did Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball Z, and like these things that raised me. And so we are writing a movie for Toei Animation… just such a dream come true, to write, be in their office and see, like all Dragon Ball Z, like figures everywhere. It’s like, ‘Can I move in here?’”
